Educons University (Univerzitet Educons) is a private university in Sremska Kamenica, across the Danube from Novi Sad. It was licensed in 2008 and presents itself as the first private university in Vojvodina, and it says its seven faculties are accredited at all study levels. Teaching is mainly in Serbian: the university announced English-language programmes in environmental protection, ecological agriculture and business economics on its official Instagram account, but the “Study in English” page on its website is still “under construction”, so ask for written confirmation. Fees can be paid in 10 monthly instalments, and merit scholarships for all years of study exist for students with a GPA of 8.00 or above. Fees for international students are not officially published, so request them in writing. This Educons University guide covers the faculties, language, admission and accreditation, and what to check before paying.

Faculties
The 2026/2027 admission announcement lists 7 accredited faculties, but the website pages show different lists of faculties. The fields that appear on the university’s pages:
- Business economics: among the programmes announced in English.
- Environmental protection: among the programmes announced in English.
- Ecological (organic) agriculture: among the programmes announced in English.
- Information technology: in Serbian.
- Digital production (founded 2012): combines art and information technology, from graphic design to film, animation and games, in Serbian.
- Security studies: in Serbian.
- Teacher education: in Serbian.
There are also separate faculties of sport and psychology, and of project management and innovation. The exact list of programmes open each year is in the admission announcement on the university’s website.
Tuition fees
The university had not published an official fee schedule for foreign students on its website when this page was updated, and the figures circulating on agent websites are undocumented, so we do not list them. What the university confirms:
- Fees are paid in 10 monthly instalments.
- Merit scholarships for all four years of study for a student whose GPA in the previous year is at least 8.00 (out of 10).
For comparison, English-taught programmes at another private university, Singidunum, cost 3,900 euros for 2026/2027, and public bachelor’s fees for foreigners are mostly between 1,000 and 3,600 euros. Ask Educons for a written offer that includes the full fees for all years and the registration and exam fees before making any payment. Read university fees in Serbia.
Admission and how to apply
- Check the new year’s admission announcement on the university’s website and make sure the programme you want is open in English this year.
- Prepare your secondary-school diploma and transcript, legalised (apostille or full legalisation) and translated into Serbian by a court-certified translator.
- Apply for recognition of your secondary-school diploma at the Serbian Qualifications Agency (AZK); the fee is 8,900 dinars. Read recognition of secondary-school diplomas in Serbia.
- Send your application to the university and wait for the acceptance letter.
- After acceptance: a D visa from the Serbian embassy, then temporary residence inside Serbia. Read the Serbian student visa.
Accreditation and recognition: check before you pay
Private universities in Serbia are subject to accreditation by the National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Body, and accreditation is granted per programme and for a limited period. Before you enrol:
- Look up the programme name itself (not just the university) in the Body’s register of accredited programmes.
- Ask the recognition authority in your own country: some countries treat private universities under different conditions from public ones, or publish lists of recommended universities.
- Make sure the study is full-time and in person, because many recognition authorities do not accept distance learning.

Life in Sremska Kamenica and Novi Sad
Sremska Kamenica is a quiet suburb across the Danube from Novi Sad, Serbia’s second-largest city (about 369,000 people). Many students live in Novi Sad itself because it is bigger and has more services. Living costs in Novi Sad, housing included, run from about 415 to 905 euros a month, and the fast train links it to Belgrade in about 40 minutes. Read Studying in Novi Sad.
Is Educons right for you?
- A good fit if the university confirms in writing an English-language programme in business economics, environment or organic agriculture, you want a quiet city, and you prefer paying in instalments.
- Compare before deciding if your subject is available in English at a public university, because public universities are clearer on recognition abroad. Also compare other private universities such as Singidunum and Metropolitan.
- Not a fit if you want medicine or a subject not offered in English there and do not want to learn Serbian.
Documents usually required
- A passport valid for long enough.
- Secondary-school diploma and transcript, legalised and translated into Serbian (for a master’s, the bachelor’s diploma and its transcript).
- The AZK recognition decision or proof that you have applied.
- Proof of English level for English programmes, as the faculty requires.
- Passport photos, and the registration-fee receipt if there is one.
Visa and residence
Nationals of countries without a visa-free regime need a D visa for study from the Serbian embassy before travelling, then a temporary residence permit inside Serbia, renewed every year (fee about 23,880 dinars, roughly 204 euros). Register your address with the police within 24 hours of arrival; your landlord usually does this. For residence you must show proof of financial means, health insurance, housing and an enrolment certificate from the university. Remember that Serbia is not in the European Union or the Schengen area, so a Serbian residence permit does not let you travel to Schengen countries without a visa. Read temporary residence for students.
Approximate first-year budget
Since the official fees for foreigners are not published, work out your budget like this: the fees from the university’s written offer, then living costs in Novi Sad of 415 – 905 euros a month (about 5,000 – 10,900 euros a year), then residence, insurance and your flight. Use the study cost calculator to compare Educons with other universities in your own currency.
Working while studying
A holder of a study residence permit may work up to 20 hours a week without a separate permit since February 2024. The minimum wage in 2026 is 371 dinars net per hour (405 from 1 January 2027). Read working while studying in Serbia.

Serbian degree levels and what they mean for your plans
Serbia applies the three-cycle degree system with ECTS credits and the diploma supplement. According to the European Commission’s Study in Europe profile of Serbia, a bachelor’s takes 3–4 years, a master’s 1–2 years and a PhD at least 3 years; integrated programmes of 5–6 years exist mainly in medicine, dentistry and pharmacy. Admission to doctoral studies requires a bachelor’s and master’s totalling at least 300 ECTS (Study in Serbia: academic levels).
To check a programme before paying, search the national programme database and the database of institutions.
Proof of funds and health insurance for your visa
The official portal for foreigners lists what is accepted as proof of means of subsistence for a D visa, including a bank statement or declaration of funds equal to the minimum salary in Serbia for the year of application, proof of a scholarship, or a written guarantee. For health insurance, accepted proofs include a policy covering the stay, proof of a scholarship, or proof of funds to cover emergency care (source). A university merit scholarship is not a government scholarship, so ask the authorities which documents they will accept in your case.
