The city is quieter and smaller than the capital, and most faculties are close to each other on campus, making walking or cycling easy. It was chosen as the European Capital of Culture in 2022 and is famous for the EXIT music festival and Petrovaradin Fortress.
Government student housing is usually reserved for scholarship students and state-funded students, so international students who pay fees typically need to arrange private accommodation.
